Growing up, one of my favourite drinks to get when going out was iced-tea. This carried into adulthood as I started to learn the benefits of all the different herbal teas. So naturally, I found a combination that not only benefits the system but also tastes exactly like iced tea. For me dandelion has always been a go to because I find it to taste similar to coffee (my vice), but because it’s so beneficial to the body overall. Not only is dandelion bitter, which helps to support the production of digestive secretions in our system, but it also helps to support our detox systems as well. There are different benefits to both the leaf and root of dandelion, but for this recipe I always use roasted dandelion root for the taste and then a chamomile tea to help sweeten the flavour. I personally drink this almost every day to help support my liver and skin health:
Ingredients:
4 roasted dandelion tea bags (I use @organictraditions)
1 chamomile tea bag
1/4 cup raw honey
1/4 cup lemon juice
2L water (1 hot, 1 room temp or cold)
Start by boiling 1 litre of water, keep the other litre room temperature or cooled.
Place your tea bags and honey in the cool water in a large container and allow to soak, then pour in the hot water and stir in the honey. Allow to steep, covered and in the fridge, for at least 15 minutes.
Once steeped, removed the tea bags and pour in the lemon juice. Serve and enjoy!
